A synthesis of three currents (Beck's cognitive distancing, mindfulness, ACT defusion), Cognitive Self-Distancing Therapy establishes stepping back from one's thoughts as a therapeutic lever. It teaches one to treat thoughts as hypotheses rather than truths, in order to break the ruminative cycle. Indications: depression, generalized anxiety, OCD and post-traumatic stress.
